Best Habit for Healthy Living that Pays Off for Children, Adolescents and Adults
Alike: Eating Breakfast
Those who eat breakfast had a lower Body Mass Index (BMI), consumed fewer fat calories,
and exercised more than those who rarely eat breakfast every day.
Eating a healthy breakfast promotes healthy eating throughout the day and might
help to prevent situations where you simply grab fast food.
Breakfast eaters make better eating decisions all day long. Be a role model for
your kids too!

Muscle Move of the Month - July 2008
Define Your Core with Dynamic Plank
Target Muscles: all abdominal muscles plus shoulders, back and buttocks
Starting Position:
Begin in all fours: hands and knees with toes tucked under, knees bent and aligned
directly under hips, hands and elbows aligned directly under shoulders, elbows bent.
Pull your shoulders down, away from your ears, abdominals pulled up and gluteus
squeezed. As you exhale lift your knees up off the floor (A)
Action:
As you maintain a strong starting position (with focus on keeping the abdominals
pulled up and in), press one leg out to straighten it as shown (B), pause. Extend
to straighten the other leg into a straight leg plank as shown (C) and pause. Hold
for 2-3 counts, return to starting position bringing one leg in to kneeling followed
by the other. Repeat 5-10 times.
Modification:
Perform A and B alternating right to left.
