Applicant Privacy Policy

Intent

This Policy applies to all individuals seeking employment with GoodLife Fitness Centres Inc. (“GoodLife”) (referred to in this policy collectively as “applicants”). The intent of this policy is to ensure that any and all personal information collected with respect to applicants is maintained in a highly confidential manner and used only for purposes related to evaluating an applicant’s eligibility and qualifications for employment with GoodLife.

Please note that this is a general privacy policy relating to applicant personal information. Other GoodLife policies, for example the Associate Privacy Policy, E-mail and Internet Use Policy and the Code of Behaviour for Computing and Telephone Resources, also contain provisions relating to the collection, use and disclosure of associate personal information and should be reviewed carefully by all employed associates.

Personal Information Collected

GoodLife will only collect such applicant personal information as is necessary to evaluate the applicant’s eligibility and qualifications for employment with GoodLife, which includes the following:

• Name, home address and telephone number, personal e-mail address
• Personal information contained in resumes and application forms;
• References and interview notes;
• Criminal records check;

Use of Personal Information

GoodLife is genuinely committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of applicants’ personal information. GoodLife will only collect and use such applicant personal information as is necessary to evaluate the applicant’s eligibility and qualifications for employment with GoodLife, such as:

• Verification of identity and credentials;
• Determining qualifications and eligibility for employment;
• Determination of compensation and bonus entitlements;
• Complying with municipal, provincial and federal requirements

Third Party Disclosure

GoodLife contracts with certain trusted companies to act on our behalf to fulfill certain functions. We may use third party service providers to process or handle applicant personal information on our behalf and to assist us with various services such as application collecting services, background check services and data processing services.

Some of our service providers may be located outside of Canada. As a result, applicant personal information may be accessible to regulatory authorities in accordance with the law of these jurisdictions. We will take steps to ensure that such parties adhere to our policy with respect to the protection of applicant personal information.

Applicant personal information may also be disclosed in the following cases:

• to GoodLife’s lawyers;
• to comply with a subpoena, warrant or order;
• to a police force, if required by law;
• to an investigative body or government institution which can oblige us to do so;
• in emergency situations in which we believe that the life, health or safety of an applicant or other person may be in danger

We may also combine your personal information with that of other individuals to create aggregate data which we will use, for example, to improve our products and services and develop new ones. Aggregate data is general information about groups of customers but not about you as an individual. We may also share this aggregate data with third party service providers.

Web Site Data Collection

Our third party service providers may place cookies on our Web site. Cookies are identifiers that can be sent from a Web site via your browser to be placed on your computer's hard drive. Thereafter when you visit a Web site, a message is sent back to the Web server by the browser accessing the Web site. You may elect not to accept cookies by changing the designated settings on your Web browser. However, not utilizing cookies may prevent you from using certain functions and features of our Web site.

Length of Retention

GoodLife will only retain applicant personal information as long as is necessary for the fulfillment of the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law. Applicant personal information is securely stored until such time as it is no longer required, after which it is destroyed.

Access and Accuracy

An applicant may ask to see his/her personal information that GoodLife holds about the applicant. Such requests should be made to careers@goodlifefitness.com. Note that such requests may be denied where applicable laws or regulations prevent GoodLife from providing access to some or all of the applicant personal information held in respect of an applicant.

GoodLife will take all reasonable measures to ensure that applicant personal information is accurate and complete. If an error or mistake is noticed, or a change is required (for example: name, address or telephone number changes) applicants should contact careers@goodlifefitness.com.

Security

GoodLife commits to taking appropriate measures to ensure that all applicant personal information is secure.

Amendments to Applicant Privacy Policy

GoodLife may review and revise this applicant privacy policy from time to time. Changes to this policy will be posted at jobs.goodlifefitness.com.
