The Fall is a time when many of us reconnect. September, in many ways, has become more of a “New Year” than January for lots of people. The kids are going back to school, the summer clothes are being packed away and thoughts of routines and getting back to normal life are on our minds. Regular fitness and activity are usually at the top of this list. The Fall is also the time when we reconnect with old friends from days gone by. Many of our prestigious academic institutions across the country celebrate the academic New Year with large-scale homecoming celebrations. This year, I am encouraging all of my fellow University of Western Ontario Alumnus to attend the Homecoming Parade and Football Game against long-time rival Queen’s University on Saturday, October 2nd in London, Ontario. I hope to see lots of Queen’s Alumni from Kingston, Ontario in the bleachers as well! Maureen Hagan, GoodLife Vice President of Operations will be participating in the parade...in style! And I have the honour to do the coin toss this year at the Homecoming Football Game. Everywhere across the country, there are opportunities like these where you can get your old friends and family together and go out for an afternoon of sport, fresh air and friendly competition. When you are reconnecting this Fall, I want to encourage you to reconnect with your fitness and wellness goals and prioritize your health. What are you doing to get and stay active in your life today? I want to send out a challenge to you to be the fittest alumni in the country. Who of you are Living the Good Life? Remember to prioritize fitness and healthy activities in your life. Get involved in sport, play pick-up basketball with your friends, go for a walk, try new Group Exercise classes, start dancing....whatever makes you want to start and keep moving! I hope that I have lit the collegiate fire in you and that you will support your local universities and colleges and get out for a day of activity and fun. Go Mustangs Go!
